The WAVE machine has been analysed using Life Cycle Assessment (LCA). This is a standardised international method that calculates the environmental impact of a machine or method over its entire life cycle. The method is well suited for repetition after a number of years. WAVE can derive a good comparison from it to monitor improvements. The disadvantage of the LCA-analyse in the Netherlands is that manufacturers can supply unscreened data. This means that unreliable data may on occasion be mutually compared. Outcomes from comparative LCA analyses are for this reason not suitable as a commercial argument.
